IFSO Policy on Surveys
To ensure the scientific quality, integrity, and relevance of research conducted under the IFSO name, the Federation will not provide endorsement for surveys initiated and managed by third parties.
We recognize the value of surveys in advancing knowledge and understanding within the field of metabolic and bariatric surgery. Therefore, if a proposal addresses an important and emerging topic that aligns with IFSO’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities, it may be submitted for review by the IFSO Scientific Committee.
Following evaluation, the Scientific Committee may recommend that the project be developed and conducted as an official IFSO survey, under the Federation's scientific governance and oversight.
This approach ensures methodological rigor, broad international representation, and the highest standards of scientific credibility while supporting research initiatives that are meaningful to our global community.
Members interested in proposing a survey project are invited to submit their proposal by email to info@ifso.com. Submissions should include:
- Topic
- Background and rationale
- Aim and objectives
- Project description
- Proposed methodology
The Scientific Committee will review all submissions and determine whether the project is suitable for development as an official IFSO initiative.
This policy ensures the scientific quality, independence, and credibility of research conducted under the IFSO name.
We encourage innovative research ideas that address important questions in Metabolic Bariatric Surgery and contribute to advancing patient care worldwide.
