Variation for people following Jainism
Make the pancake without egg and onions can be replaced with capsicum.
Jainism is an ancient Indian religion, having 4-5 million followers. The people following
Jainism are strict vegetarians and their principle belief is ahimsa (non-violence). Due to
which they abstain from eating any kind of meat. Also, in order to avoid causing harm to
the insects and micro-organisms in the soil, their diet does not even incorporate foods
grown underground (root vegetables and tubers) like Potato, Sweet potato, Onion, Garlic,
Beetroot, Yam, Ginger, Groundnut, Carrot, Radish, Cabbage, Cauliflower, Mushroom, etc.
Strict Jains do not even consume food that has been stored overnight, as it possesses a
higher concentration of micro-organisms as compared to food prepared and consumed the
same day. Eg: Sprouts
