Foreword

It is with pleasure that we introduce the IFSO Cookbook 2022 as a joint collaboration between
the International Federation for the Surgery of Obesity and metabolic disorders (IFSO)
and the World Gastroenterology Organisation (WGO).
The inaugural cookbook launched at the IFSO World Congress in Madrid 2019 was such a
resounding success that we are delighted to be able to introduce our 2022 IFSO Cookbook
as a joint collaboration together with WGO with whom we have been working together as a
global initiative to help combat obesity and to optimize the control of adiposity-based chronic
diseases.

This cookbook is the result of contribution from members of IFSO and WGO submitting and
sharing their favourite and healthiest recipe. The recipes have come from all corners of the
globe and have been selected and scrutinised by IFSO dietitians/nutritionist and the best of the
best recipes have been selected for this 2nd IFSO Cookbook edition.
We hope you will get as much pleasure from these healthy and nutritious meals from different
cultures and continents, as we have selecting them for this publication. The recipes were
chosen for their nutrition, good taste and wholesome value, not only for post bariatric and
metabolic surgical or endoscopic patients, but for anyone interested in nutrition based easy to
manage well balanced meals.

A special thanks to our dedicated and passionate IFSO Integrated Health Committee Chair
Mary O’Kane and Vice Chair Silvia Leite Faria for their passion and dedication and to the IFSO

all recipes submitted.
